23rd Pair of Socks
I cannot believe I’ve knit 23 pairs of socks!! Where does the time go? I still remember my first pair of socks – and just how long it took me to knit those! Ha! Now I can knit them in two weeks, if I have to. In fact, I knit one of these, my 23rd pair, in a week, as part of KnittyNatty’s Sock Week. So much fun!
Let me tell you more…
The Yarn
I bought this yarn quite some time ago and it’s from one of my favorite indie dyers, Must Stash Yarn. Stacie is my favorite self-striping yarn dyer and she just keeps coming up with new colorways that just amaze me. This one is called Apple Picking and it is even prettier knit up than I expected!
The Pattern
For this vanilla sock, I once again turned to my favorite pattern from Charlene Schurch. Really, I go back again and again to her book.
Details
Pattern: Basic Top Down Socks with Heel Flap by Charlene Schurch
Yarn: Must Stash Yarn Perfect Must Match in Apple Picking
Mini: Chasing Rabbits Fiber Co. Fern (colorway unknown, part of a mini set)
Needles: US 1 (2.s5 mm)
Made for: my MIL
Time to Completion: 3 weeks
I was in no rush to complete these socks as they were for my MIL’s birthday in November. But I love completing gift knitting ahead of schedule!
For these socks, I cast on 72 stitches and started with a 2×2 rib for the cuff. Once again, I did an Eye of Partridge heel, which is quickly becoming my favorite heel.
These were so much fun to knit and the stripes gave me so much joy! I cannot say enough about Must Stash yarn!
