Advent 2022 Socks
I’ve had so many projects coming off the needles – and other things to talk about – that I’ve neglected telling you about my Advent 2022 Socks. These socks were my favorite socks knit from a self-striping Advent skein so far! That’s high praise and it all goes to the genius behind Freckled Whimsy!
Let me tell you more!
The Yarn
For two years, I bought The Cozy Knitter’s self-striping Advent skein. And I must say, the colors both years just didn’t do much for me. Both years were very pretty, for sure, but I would not have picked them out had I seen them in a yarn shop for sale.
Freckled Whimsy’s skein, however, I would have snatched up in a heartbeat. I love these colors. And they work so well together! I was over the moon when the purples started coming out to play near the end of the foot!
For the heel, toes, and cuffs, I used a bare yarn I had on hand.
The Pattern
I turned once again to my favorite pattern from Kay, the Crazy Sock Lady, except that I used circular needles. I definitely prefer two circular needles to my once beloved double-pointed needles. Who would have thought?!

Since these were Advent socks, I knit a stripe a day on these. And that was amazing, considering I had two trips – one for work and one for pleasure – in December, along with the holidays. But since I loved these so much, it was never a chore to knit on them!
For the cuff, I did my usual 2×2 rib. I once again knit an Eye of Partridge Heel, which is my favorite, especially for women. I love the delicate detail of this heel.
There’s no question that I’ll purchase this Advent skein from Freckled Whimsy again next year. And I can’t wait!
