Advent Cowl Wolop
In 2021, I bought two Advent calendars, which kept me a very busy knitter in 2022. I chose to make a Habitation Throw with one calendar, and then with the other, I chose to make the Advent Cowl Wolop. And this was such a fun project!
Let me tell you more!
The Yarn
For this pattern, I used an Advent calendar from Blush Yarns. (This was a fingering weight calendar.) The colors were just too beautiful and they worked perfectly in a rainbow fade. I especially loved the bright pastel hue of most of the colors! Perfect!
(I did not use all the minis from this calendar as I’d used a few for other projects.)
The Pattern
I found out about this pattern by watching The Crazy Sock Lady’s podcast. She knit this and made some modifications. And I used her modifications and made some of my own.
Details
Pattern: Advent Cowl Wolop 2019 Loop by Lieneke Bosman
Yarn: 2021 Advent from Blush Yarns; Merino Sock base
Needles: US 6 (4 mm)
Made for: me
Time to Completion: 5 months
My modifications included knitting 25 rows with one color. I then added the new color and did this pattern for a row: k2tog YO. This was The Crazy Sock Lady’s modification and it’s perfect.
This was the first time I used a provisional cast on and while that was fine, I absolutely hated the bind off. And that’s a shame, because I would totally knit this again if not for that.
This project was perfect for my early morning knitting and I’m so glad I made it. The yarn and the pattern – just perfection! I can’t recommend it enough for using those Advent calendars.
