Black Trillium Fibres
Today I’m excited to introduce you to an independent dyer based near Portland, Oregon. Black Trillium Fibres is the brainchild of Melanie, an excellent dyer who I’ve enjoyed watching over the years.
I first discovered Black Trillium on a visit to a yarn store in south Texas. And I loved how soft and squishy it was – and the colorways were lovely! I had to get a skein!
Bases
Black Trillium offers yarn on a lot of bases. Some of the most popular include….
Merilon Sock (Light Fingering – 75/25)
Merino Sock (Light Fingering – 100% Merino)
Prime (Fingering – 90% Merino/10% Silk)
Lilt Sock (Fingering – 85% Merino/15% Silk)
Sublime DK (100% Merino)
Pebble Worsted (Aran – 100% Merino)
Silken Lace (85% Merino/15% Silk)
Colorways
Several years ago, in 2012, Melanie started specializing in incredible gradient sets. The goal is to provide 60 colors with which to make gradients. How amazing is that?!
In addition to her standard, beautiful yarns, Melanie recently came out with some new variegated colorways and they are fabulous. Several of them speak to me!
Availability
The Black Trillium website seems to always be very well stocked. In addition to the online store, Black Trillium is popping up in more and more yarn stores across the country.
Ease of Shopping
Melanie’s website is easy to use, once you get the hang of it – because it is a bit different. She also offers regular sales and discounts, so be sure to sign up for her newsletter to know when those are happening.
Shipping Costs
Shipping is reasonable – and free with orders over $125.
Conclusion
I’m not going to be able to resist more Black Trillium if Melanie keeps coming up with such gorgeous colorways. Be sure to follow her on social media to see what all she’s dyeing up.
