Hard Candy Christmas Socks

This year, for Advent, I knit two pairs of socks – my Cozy Knitter Advent Socks and a pair of socks using a Must Stash Yarn Christmas colorway.  It was so much fun knitting one stripe on every sock each day – and they knit up so fast, it seems!

While I didn’t finish my Must Stash socks until January 1, they were still a great Christmas project that I hope to replicate each year.

The Yarn

In 2020, I asked for a skein of Must Stash Yarn for Christmas.  My family, I think begrudgingly, enjoys buying me yarn but always prefers specific instructions on what exactly I want.   So when Must Stash had a Christmas update and I saw the color, Hard Candy Christmas, I immediately sent it to a family member to add to my Christmas list.  And I was so happy to open it on Christmas Day!

Stacie of Must Stash just keeps coming up with more and more unique colorways that I cannot resist!

The Pattern

Because this yarn is self-striping, I chose to knit a vanilla sock using my favorite, basic pattern from Charlene Schurch

Must Stash Hard Candy

Details

Pattern:  Basic Top Down Socks with Heel Flap by Charlene Schurch

Yarn:  Must Stash Yarn Perfect Match Sock in Hard Candy Christmas

Needles: US 1 (2.25 mm)

Made for: me

Time to Completion: 1 month

As always, I knit super tight.  So I used a larger needle to cast on 72 stitches and then switched to my usual 2.25 mm needle.  I decreased to 70 stitches after the cuff.  This really is becoming the perfect formula to fit my feet!  And for the heel, I used my favorite technique, eye of partridge.  I love this texture of this heel!

This yarn brought me such joy and I looked forward, every day, to knitting a stripe on these socks.  Now I need to think about what yarn I can knit with next December, in addition to my Cozy Knitter socks!

I’m a bit of a sock-knitting addict!!
