Top Down Socks with Heel Flap

Lemonade Socks

I went on a bit of a sock-spree last year.  Near the end of the year, I wanted to knit another pair of vanilla socks, with a leg length not quite as high as normal or as low as anklets.

Yarn + Pattern

For these socks, my sixth pair, I wanted something bright and cheerful. I also wanted to knit with a new yarn.  And so I ended up choosing a lovely colorway from the Lemonade Shop.

Because this yarn is so bright and variegated, I chose to do a vanilla pattern, turning again to Charlene Schurch’s Sensational Knitted Socks.

Pattern: Basic Top Down with Heel Flap by Charlene Schurch

Yarn: The Lemonade Shop Mighty Sock

Colorway: Sweater Weather

Needles: US 1 dpns (2.25mm)

Made for: me!

Time to Completion: 1 month

These kinds of projects – with lovely colorways – remind me of why I love to knit.  I’m content, always, to watch the colors knit up together. This was such a fun yarn!

I had no problems with the pattern – I’m a pro at Schurch’s pattern now – so these were a quick knit.

Fit Frustrations

My only frustration with these socks came at the very end.  They ended up being just a tiny bit too big, much like my fourth pair of socks.  This was very, very annoying. I’m going to have to find a way to remedy this problem.

Other than that, I love these fun socks!
