Murray Wool Goods 2021 Advent Calendar
For my Advent calendar this year, I wanted to try out a dyer from whom I had never purchased yarn. I wanted something new and different. When Murray Wool Goods posted about their 2021 calendar, I decided to try them out! And I was not disappointed.
The Calendar
This Advent calendar consists of 24 mini skeins and one full 100g skein on the 25th. Though there was a tempting base containing yak, I chose the standard, 75/25 sock base.
These mini skeins turned out to be such a joy to open! And so different from my October House Fiber Arts and Woolberry calendars of years’ past. These colors are bright, bold, and saturated. There are some speckles and some variegated skeins but also plenty of solid colorways mixed in. All in all, it is a great mix!
This is by no means a fade calendar – the colors definitely work together, though. I’m thinking of making another throw, perhaps another Habitation Throw.
The Extras
There were not many extras in this Advent. There were some candy canes in the box but not much else. Of course, as someone who loves sweets and chocolate, I somehow always end up with calendars that contain no food goodies.
Thoughts
I really do love this calendar and the colors within it. As I think about what to do with it, I keep coming back to the Habitation Throw. Sure, I could knit a new-to-me throw pattern, but I loved that one so much….
Let me know if you have any pattern suggestions! And tell me what you’re making with your calendar!
