One of my favorite yarn shops, located in the Texas Hill Country, is The Tinsmith’s Wife in Comfort, Texas.
Their storefront, in this small town, is simply adorable. Once inside, I was immediately overwhelmed by the sprawling shelves of yarn. You know how it is, when you enter a new yarn shop – you’re like a kid in a candy store! This shop opens into several rooms and the yarn is dispersed throughout, organized by weight.
As I walked around, I was very impressed by the quality and quantity of yarn. The Tinsmith’s Wife carries yarn from Shibui, Black Trillium, Lorna’s Laces, Blue Sky Fibers, Handmaiden Fine Yarn, Dream in Color, Knitted Wit, Yarn Carnival, West Yorkshire Spinners, and Ancient Arts Yarn – just to name a few.
The people in the shop were lovely. It was close to Halloween so they were having a party to celebrate. But the best part of the shop – they have shop cats! And since they have plenty of places to sit and knit, I sat and soon found myself with a lap buddy. Considering my own cats aren’t this friendly, I was immediately charmed by the feline interest.
Knitting is not the only craft The Tinsmith’s Wife supports. They have cross stitch supplies and needlepoint kits, as well as classes to educate you about all these crafts.
When you’re next in the Texas Hill Country, near Fredericksburg, make a detour to Comfort to shop at this delightful store!
