Twisted Owl

I was first introduced to Twisted Owl Fiber Studio when they had a trunk show at my local yarn store.   Immediately, I fell in love with the lovely colors of skeins and skeins of variegated yarn. The owner, Abby, was there and was super nice.  In fact, I learned that she’s from Longview, Texas, in my hometown area of East Texas. No wonder she was nice; she’s from East Texas!

Bases

Twisted Owl has a variety of great bases to choose from.  They include:

2-ply Sock (80/20)

Super Sock (75/25)

Single Sock (100% Merino)

Super Spork (80/20)

DK (100% Merino)

SW Aran 3-ply (100% SW Merino)

Chunky (80/20)

Worsted (100% Merino)

Bulky (100% Merino)

Mohair Sock (20% Mohair, 55% SW Merino, 25% Nylon)

Sometimes they offer other bases, but these are the most regularly occurring.

Colorways

Abby has some great colorways based on cartoon characters, which is a lot of fun.  Along with her variegated yarn, she offers some lovely tonals. I was drawn to the skein above because of the purple (I’m an addict) and the pink with blue speckles…..  I fell hard and fast for this color combo.

Availability

Although there’s a great online store, Twisted Owl is popping up in more and more local yarn store across the country.  How cool is that?!

Ease of Shopping

The Twisted Owl website is easy to use and also offers a Secret Stash – otherwise known as a sale section!

Shipping Costs

To ship to me, the costs are a bit high compared to other dyers, and that’s in the state of Texas.  The best way to buy this indie yarn may be through your local yarn store. Thankfully, there are a quite a few of them now!

Conclusion

I love that Texas has so many talented indie yarn dyers.  Abby of Twisted Owl is a great addition to that group. Her colorways are original and beautifully dyed.

Be sure to follow Twisted Owl on Instagram.  Abby and her husband are too cute, sharing their road-tripping adventures.
