Voolenvine Yarn
A very sought after, hard to get independent dyer is Voolenvine Yarn. This yarn is the product of Kristin from Brooklyn. If you watch a lot of knitting podcasts, you’ve probably run across her weekly chat. Kristin is a maker of all kinds of things and her style is Gothic Victorian, if that’s a thing. Her yarn is beautiful but very hard to get. Let me tell you more….
Bases
Voolenvine Yarn comes on the following bases….
Blitzed (Fingering – Merino/Nylon/Stellina)
Footsie (Fingering – 80% BFL/20% Nylon)
Nouveau (Fingering – 100% Merino)
Wolke (Fingering – 80% Merino/10% Cashmere/10% Nylon)
Smitten DK (10% Merino/10% Cashmere/10% Nylon)
Sportlandia (Sport – 100% Merino)
Ghost Lace (Mohair/Silk)
Cauldron (Worsted – 100% Merino)
Colorways
Kristin dyes some stunning colorways. Some of her colors are a little dark for me, since she seems to prefer darker colors, but then her lighter colors are gorgeous! So there truly is something for everyone with Voolenvine.
Availability
When Kristin has an update – usually on Saturdays – you had better set an alarm to log in right away if you want to buy something. Thankfully, if you sign up for the Voolenvine newsletter, Kristin tells you exactly what will be in each update so you know whether or not there’s something you want beforehand.
Ease of Shopping
Buying yarn during an update is easy, as long as you know what you want. On rare occasions, there are some skeins left over the next day or early the next week. But don’t count on this being the case.
Shipping Costs
Shipping is reasonable within the United States.
Conclusion
Kristin is a talented maker and has several beautiful knitting patterns that she’s designed. (There’s a hat I’ve been looking at for some time….) Her podcast is a treat to watch because it always inspires me to keep making. Expect to see more beautiful things from Kristin in the future!
